The Fastest Clock in the Universe
By Philip Ridley
2013
Conceptual Design
Venue: Caird Studio, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama
Ridley's play is a bizarre, surreal, and gritty portrayal of relations between degenerates living in an east London warehouse, and what happens when they encounter two equally questionable precocious youths.
The space in the play is described as a giant, cracked egg, so my concept was to build a world where the caving walls curved in like the shell of an egg, while the space was filled with an unsettling number of stuffed birds collected by one protagonist.
